I hope that this short article is a good start point to understand why Floral Magician Mary Bell was commercially unsuccessful even though it was really loved by children.
Fortunately, fansubs are free from commercialism. We can share really good animes, without worrying about popularity.
It’s not like all the popular animes are bad. Some of them are really nice. But there are also wonderful titles that are not well-known.
Animes we are subbing are relatively less popular, or at least less known. I hope you will find your own hidden gem... someday, somwhere.

This is the 30th episode out of 50, and is the first episode with the Second Ending Theme, Omowareteiru (思われている: lit. "(You are) Thought" i.e. "You are Loved"). The best part of Floral Magician Mary Bell is in the last 20 episodes. In contrast to many other anime, where "heroes" or "heroines" fight against the "evil," Mary Bell is a story of reconciliation. If anyone is mean to you, he or she must have a reason for that. Although this may be difficult and will require a lot of time, it is possible to understand your enemy and eventually make friends with them, because, ultimately, there is no such thing as "pure evil."
This may sound too idealistic for you, but just think about the real world. The reality is not "good guys against bad guys." There is inequality, misunderstanding, misfortune, and mistakes made by everyone. It's not a simple matter of "justice vs. evil." If Mary Bell countered cruelty with cruelty, Vivian would simply become more unkind and harsh, making both of them more unhappy and simply causing more misery for everyone involved. In a "standard" anime, Vivian might learn some dark powers and confront Mary Bell in the ultimate duel for control of Sunny Bell. This would act as a great catharsis for most and gives the story a simple straightforward ending. But that's not Floral Magician Mary Bell... Probably you'll feel this show is slow, non-exciting, and a bit too naive, yet the theme and philosophy behind it is deeper than it appears.
These characters may at first seem overly cute and may make you think it's nothing but a show for little girls. The story is rather simple--at least superficially. However, I hope you will give the show a chance and enjoy the subtle way the animators handled the tensions between fairies and the fairy hunter; fairies and humans; or those who believe in fairies and those who don't want to.

We had to re-time Hime3, but it's done. Soon we are going to re-encode it. MB is typeset and test-encoded too, and now we are checking the result.
We are going to qc the subtitle texts soon. There is a timing-related problem in video encoding, and re-timing and re-encoding are inevitable, but they won't take long, so Ep.3 should be out before long.

Floral Magician Mary Bell 27 was test-encoded today. The script for Episode 28 is roughly ready too.
However the situation is not too optimistic as one of our editors, who did a really great job in editing Mary Bell, is now too busy in real life and can't spend time on fansubbing for the time being. Luckily we still have editors who love this show, and an exceptionally able quality-checker, and of course I want to go on subbing this series, because the best part of this show is after Episode 30 (or 35), but the project may be delayed (the other members don't have much free time either).
If you love this series, and if you are really good at editing and have much free time, please consider joining the project. Any help would be really appreciated.
As for other things... The script for Hime-chan's Ribbon 2 is practically ready to encode. We now have Chinese version of The Star Of Cottonland, which we had released as a 7-language multisub but v2 is expected. Goldfish Warning! 10 is being edited now. That's all for today. I hope you enjoy the old animes we are subbing.
As you might already know, AnimeSuki was hacked in Decenmber, 2005, and posts made in 2005 were lost forever. A few threads related to the shows we (#honobono) are fansubbing are gone too. Maybe those threads were not very important for AnimeSuki, but still they were informative for those who are interested.

You may have had a problem (404 Not Found Error) when you tried to download the .torrent file for Hime-chan's Ribbon 01. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.
As it turned out, the server-side script doesn't like the apostrophe in "Hime-chan's." The problem was fixed by renaming the file to "Hime-chans...," dropping '. The old .torrent is still there too to avoid any possible confusion, but the 2 torrent files (Hime-chan's... and Hime-chans...) are bit-identical (i.e. they work identically) as .torrent (only, you can't download the first one by clicking the link ^^;). It's not that we released "Hime-chan_v2.avi." The 2 .torrent files are linked to the same .avi.

Otaku-Oriented Programming enables you to write source code that looks really kawaii. Here's the step-by-step instruction.
First, make a header file where you #define or typedef your kawaii keywords. Example:
